An American cultural icon, 'The Addams Family' has been entertaining Americans since the early 1930s as cartoons, TV shows, and movies. The most recent spin-off, 'Wednesday', was launched on Netflix in late 2022 and quickly rocketed to the #1 spot on Netflix in countries worldwide. Wednesday is currently the #1 most watched English-language series on Netflix. So what's the big deal? Why do Americans love The Addams Family? Meet Wednesday Addams, the beloved daughter. She sees emotions as weakness, has an intellect (and tongue) as sharp as a sword, and embraces the macabre. But is she really as dark as she seems to be? Join us as we discuss the first 4 episodes of 'Wednesday', Season 1. Each class will review the plot of one show, the characters, new words & slang, and talk about how (or if) Wednesday's dry, snarky sense of humor translates. I will do my best to point out the Easter Eggs hidden in each episode and discuss their meaning. **If there is interest, a second Group Class will begin in late November to discuss 'Wednesday' Episodes 5-8. How This Works: 1) **You must have access to 'Wednesday' (currently airing on Netflix). Cost of the show is not included in the class price** 2) You watch 1 episode a week on your own, then discuss the episode as a group on Thursday 3) You MUST watch the episode BEFORE coming to class 4) Try to Avoid Spoilers!! 5) Closed Captions will be on. Students may use them or choose to turn them off. If all Students agree the class will be recorded. Files of the audio, transcript of the Closed Captions, and copy of text from the Chat box will be sent to each student after each class. Video will not be included (the file is too large).
