このエピソードでは、日本語の「嬉しい」と「楽しい」の違い（ちがい）を、やさしい日本語で説明しています。

In this episode, the difference between the Japanese words "ureshii" (happy) and "tanoshii" (fun) is explained in simple Japanese.

今日のテーマは、 「嬉しい」と「楽しい」の違いです。
これは、日本語を勉強している人から、よく聞かれる質問（しつもん）です。
特に、英語を話す生徒さんから、「 嬉しい と 楽しい、どちらも happy じゃないんですか？」と、よく聞かれます。

今日は、この二つの言葉の違いを、いっしょに見ていきましょう。
まず、品詞（ひんし）を見てみましょう。
「嬉しい」も、 「楽しい」も、どちらも、い形容詞（いけいようし）です。i-adjective です。
文法的（ぶんぽうてき）には、同じグループの言葉です。でも、意味と使い方（つかいかた）は、はっきり違います。

英語にするとどうなるか、考えてみましょう。
よく、こんなふうに説明されます。
「嬉しい」は glad、「楽しい」は fun。
これは、大きくは間違っていません。
でも、この対応（たいおう）だけで覚えてしまうと、日本語の使い分けが、分かりにくくなります。
なぜでしょうか。
英語の glad は、理由（りゆう）といっしょに使うことが、とても多いです。
たとえば、“I’m glad to see you.”

一方で（いっぽうで）、日本語の「嬉しい」は、理由（りゆう）を言うこともありますが、理由（りゆう）を言わなくても、自然に使えます。
理由（りゆう）を言うパターンは、例えば
「今日は、会えて嬉しかったです。」
というフレーズです。

理由（りゆう）を言わないパターンは、例えば、知り合いからお土産（おみやげ）をもらったときに、
 「嬉しいです。ありがとうございます。」
というフレーズです。

目の前で、誰かにお土産をもらった場合、どうして嬉しいかは、お互いにもう分かっていますよね。
だから、言わない方が自然です。
また、fun は、 「楽しい」にかなり近い言葉が、日本語の「楽しい」は、時間や体験（たいけん）にフォーカスしています。

それでは、それぞれの意味を見ていきましょう。

まず、「嬉しい」です。
「嬉しい」は、何か出来事（できごと）やイベントがあったときに、その出来事（できごと）に反応（はんのう）して生まれる気持ちです。
たとえば、
プレゼントをもらったとき。いいニュースを聞いたとき。会いたい人に会えたとき。
例文です。
「プレゼントをもらって、嬉しいです。」
「JLPTに合格して、嬉しかったです。」
出来事（できごと）があって、それに対して、気持ちが「パッ」と動く瞬間（しゅんかん）。
それが、「嬉しい」です。

次に、「楽しい」です。
「楽しい」は、ある時間や体験（たいけん）について感じる気持ちです。
たとえば、
旅行の時間。
パーティーの時間。
友だちと話している時間。
例文です。
「旅行は楽しかったです。」
「友だちと話すのは、楽しいです。」
「楽しい」は、一つの出来事（できごと）というより、その時間全体（じかんぜんたい）・経験全体（けいけんぜんたい）をどう感じたかを表す言葉です。

ここで、具体的な例文を使って、比べてみましょう。
二つの、とてもよく似ている文があります。
「久しぶりに友達に会えて、嬉しかったです。」
「久しぶりに友達と飲みに行って、楽しかったです。」
どうして、一つ目は「嬉しかった」で、二つ目は「楽しかった」 なのでしょうか。
一つ目の文では、 「友達に会えた」という出来事（できごと）に対して、気持ちが動いています。
だから、 「嬉しかった」が自然です。
二つ目の文では、友達と一緒に過ごした時間や体験（たいけん）について話しています。
だから、「楽しかった」が自然です。
同じ「友達」でも、何に対する気持ちなのかで、使う言葉が変わります。

よくある間違いとして、
どんな場面（ばめん）でも、 「嬉しい」と言ってしまう。
または、どんな場面（ばめん）でも、「楽しい」と言ってしまう。
というものがあります。

たとえば、
「パーティーに行って、嬉しかったです。」
これは、少し不自然（ふしぜん）です。
「パーティーに行って、楽しかったです。」こちらが、自然（しぜん）です。
また、プレゼントをもらったときに、
「えーありがとうございます。楽しいです。」
と言うと、変に聞こえます。

Reducing the time we spend on our smartphones outside of work could help improve satisfaction and motivation in the workplace, according to a new study.

Spending less time on our phones doing non-work tasks like scrolling social media or watching videos could also have an impact on our mental health, researchers said.

A research team from Germany wanted to find out about easy ways companies could improve the motivation and well-being of their employees.

Almost 280 volunteers were put into four groups.

For one week, people in the first group reduced their daily smartphone use by one hour.

People in the second group didn't change their smartphone use, but did 30 minutes more exercise per day.

Participants in the third group did both of these things. And the fourth group didn't make any changes at all.

The volunteers took surveys about their work satisfaction, motivation and mental health before starting the experiment. They took the surveys again after the experiment ended, and then again two weeks later.

The researchers found that participants in both of the groups that reduced their smartphone use saw significant improvements in their mental health and workplace satisfaction. People in these groups also felt that their work-life balance was better.

And those in the first three groups — including the exercise-only group — all said they felt a greater sense of control over their lives.

The researchers said companies could think about encouraging employees to make small changes like these to their daily lives. When employees are happier at work, they're likely to be more productive, they added.

And the good thing for companies is that there's no cost to encouraging changes like these!

はい、何がちがうかわかりますか。”がつ” はみんなの日本語 5かでならった 月の名前ですね。で、本当は
・タイでは。12月はどんな月（つき）ですか。
 
が せいかいです。 はい、じゃあ、”みんなの日本語５か でならった”がつ” は
1月、2月、3月ですね。January, February, March。 
えー「12月にクリスマスがあります」「7月はなつです」などと使いますね。じゃあ、みんなの11かで ならった、期間（きかん）、 時間の長さtermですね、は”月間（げつかん）”ですね。”間（かん）”をスキップskipできます。 
え、for month ですよね。1ヶ月間 for a month ですね。2ヶ月間、3ヶ月、4ヶ月ですね。
・1ヶ月間旅行（りょこう）に行きます。
・3ヶ月ダイエットします。 
 
と使いますね。はい。じゃあ”月（つき）”の使い方ですが、
A：タイでは12月はどんな月ですか。 
B：そんなに大切（たいせつ）な月じゃありません。
 
と言いました。他（ほか）にも、
A：月に何回ぐらい家族（かぞく）に会っていますか。
B：1月に2、3回ぐらいですね。
 
と使いますね。はい、オッケーですか。 じゃ、もう1つだけちょっと特別（とくべつ）specialの期間（きかん）、月の長さの言い方をお教えますね。これも”月(つき）” なんですよ。”ひとつき””ふたつき””みつき”、これも一月（ひとつき）、for a month、二月（ふたつき）、for two months、三月（みつき）、for three monthsなんですね。 
・ひとつき 旅行へ行ってきます。
・ふたつき トレーニングをします。
 
と使いますね。はいでこの言い方ですが、4月、5月、6月も”よつき”、”いつつき”、”むつき”、とあるんですが、 ほとんど使えませんね。うん、私もあまり使ったことがありません。ですから、おぼえる必要（ひつよう）はないと思います。
はい、オッケーですか。 はい、じゃ今日も聞いてくれてありがとうございました。みなさん、日本語の勉強（べんきょう）がんばってください。バイバイ👋

＃８　”月”のよみ方、つかい方
