他儿子一听，心想居然还有这样的好事，连忙跑到田边去看，却只见满田的秧苗都枯死了。

这就是成语“拔苗助长”的由来，后人用它来比喻不管事物的发展变化规则，急于求成，只会将事情弄糟。
