“I’d really like to participate in a drawing contest, which is organised by my university every year, and the first three prize winners actually go forward to a national drawing contest. I wasn’t so into drawing over the years, but I found that during all the covid lockdowns that it was a great way to pass the time, and really helped me from going stir crazy stuck at home every day during the numerous lockdowns we had.

 

I recently showed some of my friends a few of my sketches, which are mostly landscapes, and they were very complimentary, and suggested that I enter a competition, which gave me a boost of confidence. 

I imagine that the  competition would be pretty stiff for this contest, but i feel confident that i’ve really developed my skills enough over the past year or so, and with my friends and families encouragement have been able to get the nerve up to show off my drawing skills in public.

 

I guess the main reason i’d like to take part in this contest is that i’ve really grown to love drawing, and feel it would actually be a lot of fun to enter, as well as giving me a new challenge which i think i’m now ready for. Another reason is of course the chance of winning a nice prize, and maybe even having my drawing going forward to the national contest, which would really be amazing.

こんにちは～！マルハバ！サウジの日本語の先生、佳子です＾＾
みなさんー！元気ですかー？私は元気もりもりです！サウジはだんだん肌寒くなってきました～！本当にいい天気で最高です！
今日は「サウジの結婚式」について話します。
先日、夫の弟の結婚式に参加しました。初のサウジの結婚式です！私の人生で、これが3回目の結婚式の参加で、初めて家族としての参加でした。
サウジの結婚式と日本の結婚式のスタイルは、全然違います。まず、サウジの結婚式は始まるのがものすごく遅いです。サウジの東側では、夜8時くらいから受付が始まり、10時くらいに大体の人が集まります。西側では夜11時くらいから受付なので3時間も遅いそうです。日本では午前中に結婚式が始まるのは、普通です。
私はメイクやヘアセットを家で済ませて、6時くらいに会場につきました。プール付きのリゾート感のあるパーティー会場で、全部屋外で行われました。夜8時以降は気温が20度を下回り、さすがにノースリーブのドレスだけでは寒すぎたので、レザージャケットをオン。今回は新郎の兄弟の妻という割と近い関係だったので、新郎のお母さん、姉妹、お兄さんの奥さんと共に続々とくるゲストをサウジの挨拶で出迎えました。多分、130人以上は来たと思います。出迎えの家族は、新婦側のゲストにも1人1人挨拶をするんですよ！
そして、サウジの結婚式は時間が遅いだけではなく、なんと男女別々にパーティーをします。でも、結婚式の費用が高いので、女性だけの結婚式も増えています。今回も女性だけでした。女性だけのパーティーのいいところは、露出度の高いドレスを着れること、気兼ねなくダンスができることです。サウジで着ているようなドレスは絶対日本では着ません(笑)日本の結婚式では、みんなでダンスはあまりしないので、露出があまりない上品なドレスが好まれます。
女性だけのパーティーなので、新郎は長い間パーティーに参加できません。今回は、11時くらいに新郎新婦が登場し、新郎は30分ほど、新婦と一緒に踊ったり、ケーキカットしたりして、みんなの前にいました。そのあと新婦はゲストと写真を撮ったり、ダンスしたり。そのあと、各自ビュッフェスタイルのディナーを楽しみました。日本では決められた席でコース料理を食べるのが普通なので、これまたおもしろい違いですね。
ディナーが終わると、帰る人もいれば、家族や仲のいい友達などは2時くらいまで残ってダンスをしたり、お話ししたりしていました。ダンスの曲はすべてアラブミュージック！みんな2ステップで前後に移動したり、手を動かしていました。私も少し踊りました＾＾いやー、本当に楽しかった！サウジの結婚式は、自由な感じがいいですね！

Borders between countries sometimes change after wars or international agreements, but part of the border between Italy and Switzerland is changing because of melting glaciers.

Large sections of the border are defined by different parts of the glacier, for example the lines of ridges in the ice.

But climate change has caused glaciers across Europe to melt and this has changed the positions of the glaciers' ridges and the natural boundaries between the countries.

The two countries have been talking about the new borders for a number of months. Switzerland signed the new border agreement at the end of September and it's waiting for Italy to do the same.

Part of the border is close to the popular Swiss ski resort of Zermatt. Some of the slopes will be affected by the border change, although skiers shouldn't need to worry about carrying their passports up the mountain!

In fact, both countries are in the Schengen area, so anyone with a visa to visit one of them will usually be able to visit the other without any problems.

The changes have been made so that it is clear which of the two countries is responsible for maintaining certain areas.

But both countries' economic interests were also considered when the new borders were agreed, Bloomberg said.

According to 2023 data, Switzerland's glaciers lost 4% of their volume in 2023, after losing a record 6% of their volume in 2022.

The region has had less snow and warmer summers in recent years.

Some glaciers have no ice left, and the situation will only get worse if nothing is done about climate change, experts say.

According to a 2023 study, up to half of the world's glaciers could disappear by 2100, even if we make progress with targets limiting climate change.

約1か月の旅行中で、4つの国に行きました！

今回のPodcastでは、ベトナムの良いところをあげます！


・食べ物がおいしい
　ベトナムの料理は日本の料理に少し似ています。野菜がたくさんあります。それから辛さを調節することができます。自分の好みの味にできます。

・適度に積極的
　ベトナムに着いて、はじめに乗ったタクシーの運転手から、たくさん話しかけられました。英語ではないです。彼はGoogle translationを使って、ベトナム語を日本語に変換して、これからどこに行くのか、ここはオススメだから行ってほしい。遠くに行くなら私のタクシーを呼んでください。など、話しかけてきました。うれしい気持ちはありましたけど、遠くに行くつもりはないからタクシーは必要ないよ、ありがとう。と伝えると、彼はとても静かになりました。ベトナムではいろんな人が声をかけて来ますが、どこまでも声をかけてくるとか、しつこい感じは全然ないです。
　

・物価が安い
　何もかもが安い、わけではないですが、特に食べ物は場所を選べば、安くおいしく食べることができました。僕たちは、おいしくて安いバインミーを見つけたので、何度も食べました。もう1つおいしいものがありました。カフェでココナッツコーヒーというのがありました。これはココナッツとコーヒーのフラペチーノみたいな感じのドリンクです。個人的にはめっちゃおいしかったです。
　

・信号がないけど問題がない
　ベトナム、ダナンの道路には信号がほとんどありません。車もバイクも人も、自由に走りますし渡ります。事故が起こりそうですが、これがちょうど良い感じにみんなが走るので、事故が起こりません。はじめはドキドキしながら道路を渡りましたが、車もバイクもちゃんとよけて走ってくれることがわかってからは怖くなくなりました。


こんな感じでした！

ベトナムは、シンガポール、マレーシアと違う雰囲気でした。首都ではないビーチリゾートのダナンに行ったからかもしれません。住んでいる人はベトナム人と韓国人が多く、英語も通じにくかったです。

でもみんな笑顔でフレンドリーなので、問題なく楽しく過ごすことができました！
