こんにちは～！マルハバ！サウジの日本語の先生、佳子です＾＾
みなさんー！お元気ですかー？私は今エアコンのフィルター清掃を終わって、今日の重要ミッションを終えた達成感に浸っています。

さて今日は「ラマダンの準備」についてお話ししますよー！ラマダンについてはここでは詳しく話さないのであまり知らない方は、ちょっとストップしてググってみてくださいね。
ラマダンまで約３週間。サウジに住んでいれば、いよいよラマダンが始まる雰囲気を感じられます。スーパーのチラシは１２月末からラマダン特集が始まりました。ラマダン中によく食べられるものというと、スープ、デーツ、サモサ、スプリングロール、たくさんのスイーツ。なので、バターやチーズ、ホイップクリームやプリンやケーキなどを簡単に作れる粉のセットがプロモーションされています。
夫の実家に住んでいた時は、去年を除き、夫のお母さんがほぼ毎日ラマダン料理をふるまってくれました。いつもの定番はスープとメインディッシュ、ゲイマートという、シロップがかかった小さな丸いドーナツみたいなスイーツです。ラマダンの時は毎日おいしい料理が食べられて好きでした。揚げたスイーツが多いので、カロリーオーバーになることが多いですけどね。
今年はアパートに引っ越したので、多分全く家でラマダン感は出ないと思いますが、ちょっと頑張ろうと思って、昨日、息子が大好きなチーズサモサをラマダン用に準備しました。500gのサモサの皮と少量のフェタチーズを購入し、家にあったモッツアレラチーズとクリームチーズを使いました。去年も同じレシピを参考にして作りました。500gのサモサで22個作れるらしいです。でもサモサのラベルに何枚か記載が書いてありませんでした。去年のことをあまり覚えていなかったので、レシピ通りの分量を用意しました。1時間で余裕で終わる予定だったのですが、途中で皮が結構多いことに気づき、最初にチーズを詰め込みすぎたからか、チーズミックスが足りなくなりました。もう一度チーズミックスを用意。22個作り終えた時点で、皮がのこり16枚ほど残っていました。チーズが全部なくなったので、急遽マッシュポテトを作って、たくさんスパイス入れてチェダーチーズを混ぜた中身を作りました。これでちょうど足りました。
時間は予定より大幅オーバーでしたが、自分用のポテトサモサもできたのでちょっと嬉しい！そしてさっそく夕食に二つだけチーズサモサを出しました。息子は久しぶりのチーズサモサをすごく喜んでくれました。明日もランチに食べたい！！と言ってくれました。日本から帰ってきたらまた作る予定です！

それでは今日のフレーズです。今日のフレーズは「振る舞う」です。主に「動作・行動をとる」という意味と、「人にごちそうする」という意味があります。今回のエピソードでは後者の用法が出ましたね。例えば「彼女はいつも自分勝手に振る舞うから困る」や「夫が私の誕生日に手料理を振る舞ってくれた。」それではまた、マアッサラーマ！

What Type Of Employee Are you? Are you a Changer or a Runner?

‘‘Run‘‘ stands for the routine, well-defined processes. 

‘‘Change‘‘ — for expanding to the unknown, innovative or experimental. 

Runners and Changers are different people. 

A common mistake in companies is to combine Running and Changing in the same person. 

For example, Runner managers are good administrators. They are good at building processes within the department and making sure that daily tasks get done.

Changer managers are visionaries and strategists who aren’t strong in the day-to-day operations. They implement new projects and ideas.

The Power of Saying 'No" with Grace

ɡǔ shí hòu yǒu ɡè zhù mínɡ de yīn yuè jiā， 
古时候有个著名的音乐家，
mínɡ zì jiào ɡōnɡ mínɡ yí 
名字叫公明仪。
tā tán qín tán de fēi chánɡ chū sè。 
他弹琴弹得非常出色。
yǒu yì nián chūn tiān， 
有一年春天，
tā dài zhe qín dào jiāo wài de tián yě sàn bù， 
他带着琴到郊外的田野散步，
zhǐ jiàn yuǎn shān rú huà，hé liú qīnɡ chè， 
只见远山如画，河流清澈，
yì tóu niú zhènɡ zài hé biān chī cǎo。 
一头牛正在河边吃草。
zhè měi lì de jǐnɡ sè rànɡ tā xīn qínɡ shū chànɡ， 
这美丽的景色让他心情舒畅，
tā tū rán xiǎnɡ dào，yào wéi zhè tóu niú yǎn zòu yì qǔ。 
他突然想到，要为这头牛演奏一曲。
jǐn ɡuǎn qín shēnɡ yuè ěr dònɡ tīnɡ， 
尽管琴声悦耳动听，
kě shì nà tóu niú hǎo xiànɡ méi yǒu tīnɡ jiàn yí yànɡ， 
可是那头牛好像没有听见一样，
rénɡ rán dī zhe tóu jì xù chī cǎo。 
仍然低着头继续吃草。
ɡōnɡ mínɡ yí jiàn zhè měi miào de qín shēnɡ 
公明仪见这美妙的琴声
bìnɡ bù nénɡ dǎ dònɡ zhè tóu niú， 
并不能打动这头牛，
fēi chánɡ wú nài， 
非常无奈，
ɡuò le yí huìr，tā yòu xiǎnɡ chū yí ɡè bàn fǎ。 
过了一会儿，他又想出一个办法。
ɡōnɡ mínɡ yí tán chū yí duàn duàn qí ɡuài zá luàn de shēnɡ yīn， 
公明仪弹出一段段奇怪杂乱的声音，
yǒu de xiànɡ wēnɡ wēnɡ de wén yínɡ shēnɡ， 
有的像嗡嗡的蚊蝇声，
yǒu de xiànɡ mí lù de xiǎo niú dú fā chū de jiào shēnɡ。 
有的像迷路的小牛犊发出的叫声。
zhè shí hòu，zhè tóu niú cái xiànɡ tū rán mínɡ bái le shén me sì de， 
这时候，这头牛才像突然明白了什么似的，
yáo yáo wěi bā，shù qǐ ěr duǒ tīnɡ le qǐ lái。
摇摇尾巴，竖起耳朵听了起来。

Why do some people struggle to manage their time effectively?

Ingredients:
3 onions
3 carrots
2 potatoes
1 parsnip or turnip
3 celery sticks
250 g  mushrooms
1 ½ tbsp plain flour 
500 ml vegetable stock made with 1.5 stock cubes
1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 tsp mixed herbs
2 dashes of Tabasco sauce
120 g frozen peas
Freshly ground pepper

Method:

Roughly chop all the vegetables (except frozen peas) and place in a large bowl.
Stir in the flour, herbs and pepper.
Tip into slow cooker.
To the stock add and mix in the Balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, tabasco sauce and tomato puree.
Pour over the vegetables.
Cook until vegetables are tender.
