Easy Malayalam Stories 3 — Lakshmi's Family, and a Rainy Day
説明
Lakshmi introduces her family, and then the monsoon arrives, in short, slow sentences you can follow.
The family story brings one of the first real surprises of Malayalam: there's no word for just 'brother' or 'sister'. You always choose elder or younger (ചേട്ടൻ, അനിയൻ, ചേച്ചി, അനിയത്തി), and you use ചേട്ടൻ and ചേച്ചി for friendly strangers too. The grammar point is the possessive: എന്റെ, നിന്റെ and the -ഉടെ ending for names. Each episode works the same way: the story line by line with English, the grammar point, then the story again at speed with no English. Don't skip that last pass.
