説明
Five everyday Kerala scenes you will actually stand in — each played slowly, then at natural speed. No English after the first twenty seconds. Order tea and pay by UPI, bargain an auto fare to the station, buy tomatoes and okra, arrive at a Malayali home, and end a phone call the Kerala way. Hear how the slow forms shrink in fast speech — എത്രയാണ് becomes എത്രയാ. The whole class is in Malayalam — listen for the shape first, let the rest wash over you, and replay it daily for a week. Words and phrases you will hear: ചേട്ടാ, ഒരു ചായ തരാമോ? (chettaa, oru chaaya tharaamo?) – brother, could I have a tea? കുറച്ച് മതി (kurachu mathi) – just a little is enough എത്രയാണ്? (ethrayaanu?) – how much is it? റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷൻ പോകാമോ? (railway station pokaamo?) – can you go to the railway station? അത് കൂടുതലാണ് (athu kooduthalaanu) – that's too much കുറയ്ക്കാമോ? (kuraykkaamo?) – can you reduce it? ചേച്ചി, തക്കാളി ഉണ്ടോ? (chechi, thakkaali undo?) – sister, do you have tomatoes? ചില്ലറ ഇല്ല (chillara illa) – I don't have change ബാക്കി തരാം (baakki tharaam) – I'll give you the change ഷൂ അവിടെ ഊരി വെച്ചോളൂ (shoe avide oori vechollu) – leave your shoes there ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടാകണ്ട (buddhimuttaakanda) – don't trouble yourself സൂക്ഷിക്കണം (sookshikkanam) – take care വെച്ചോട്ടെ? (vechotte?) – shall I hang up? In this class: • At the tea shop — ordering, sugar, and paying by scan • In the auto — fixing the fare and the friendly where-are-you-from • At the vegetable shop and arriving at a Malayali home • On the phone — and the Kerala way to end a call Quizzes below.
