It was an 800m run that made me realize the truth as well as the happiness of DEFERRED GRATIFICATION!
I had a physical exercise test consisting of an 800m run, in my junior highschool.
To run faster within a set time, I not only had to spare much time and effort to build up strength, but I also had to make a strategy to save my energy for the end of the race. So during the first 400m, I ran in the middle of the group instead of being hurried to take the lead. Although some students caught up with me when we ran 600m, I kept breathing steadily and accelerated methodically. By the remaining 200m, I sped up as fast as I could. Eventually, I was the fourth to finish the run in my group in 3'06'' which was my best score!
It seemed to happen in an instant, but the joy as well as wisdom will remain fresh in my memory.
