Hello Yufangbo The more common one used would be the second one "aeroplanes have a reputation". For the 1st one, it would be better suited when talking about a specific airplane (as opposed to airplanes in general). For example: "The US Airforce One has the best reputation for on time-flights" (this is just an example, Im not sure if that plane does have that repuation) hope this helps!

I believe that "a reputation for" is the most natural way to say this: "Aeroplanes have a reputation for being dangerous". However, "the reputation of" is included in various dictionary: "Aeroplanes have the reputation *of* being dangerous" In practice there is no difference between the two, though "a reputation for" sounds more natural and is used more commonly in my opinion. Here is another example: "The company has a worldwide reputation for high quality products." "A bad reputation" and "a good reputation" are also very common: "This hotel has a good reputation in the city" We can also talk about a person's reputation: "He won't do the interview with that news channel, he wants to protect his reputation".
