"They didn't send anybody"?

There is no real difference in meaning. But there is a slight difference in in the attitude of the speaker depending on which one you use:
"They sent no one" - This puts the emphasis on no one, suggesting that the speaker is perhaps surprised/ annoyed/ irritated/ incredulous that no one was sent.
"They didn't send anybody" - In this version the speaker is more neutral in his attitude/ feelings. This is more a simple statement of fact.
