Hello! I am trying to find a synonym for the word "threatening " because I think it does not sound really well in my sentence below. But for me it's important to find a word that could be interpreted as a simple "threatening" as well (because it will be included in a contract). gross negligence: Suspending the works or threatening to suspend the works in connection with claims for an extension of time

Would "menacing" be here appropriate, general "all-inclusive" term? Or maybe it's too hard? I need something general assuming threatening because nobody is threatening openly after they signed a contract:)

"Claims for an extension of time" means that subcontractor might claim in the future that they need more time for completing the job for whatever reasons (usually due to faulty actions of subcontractor). When they claim it it's never approved by contractor (because it has its own obligations in front of the Client), and subcontractor might threaten to delay works and expose Contractor to be "punished" by the Client.

I agree with Henry that you need to give a little more context. Perhaps you could say "refusing to work, or threatening to refuse to work". I am not quite sure what you mean by "claims for an extension of time". Can you explain this? I'm guessing you are worried about employees threatening to go on strike. Is that correct?

Hi Irina. Maybe you could try "menacing", but I'm not sure if it would be suitable in terms of context. Please let me know if you have any questions. Keep up the good work!
