The sales of five different genres of music albums in Spain are illustrated in the chart, for the period between 1980 and 2000. Overall, we can observe that significant changes occured in the sales of Ballads, R&B and Pop albums. In 1980 ballad, albums had close to 1 million sales and kept decreasing gradually until 1990.Then a sudden growth happened and by 2010, approximately2.7 million album were sold. R&B showed a similar increase. In 1980 less than half a million cds were sold, and between 1990 and 1995 no growth happened. From 1995 onwards, the sales abruptly increased, reaching nearly 2 million by 2010. Sales in pop albums had fluctuations throughout the period. In 1980 it was the least popular, then steadily it started to grow, reaching around 1.5 million by 1995. Although, sales dipped to 1 million in 2005, afterwards it rose and in 5 years sales reached around 2.4 million. Classic music album sales peaked in 2000 with 1.6 million. At this time classic music and ballads were the most popular.
