A couple of options: 1.Graded readers. There are a lot of these in English, and if you find your correct level, progress is pretty easy and natural. 2. Reading about a subject you're already quite familiar with and interested in. The reading experience will be much smoother because the vocabulary and concepts are already familiar to you. 3. Read a book in English, that you have already read before (and liked :) in your native language. Already knowing what is going on, will help A LOT.

I would say don't read much above your level. Search for 'graded readers' and enjoy understanding words appropriate for your level. Then as you progress you can raise the level of book. You could also try reading short articles on the BBC website or similar - don't push yourself too hard, too quickly.

Everybody has different levels of competence, and subjects that we'd be interested in might be different. From my own experience, I spent a month in a library to browse books to find the ones that I truly loved to keep reading. These books would be a trigger for becoming an avid reader one day.

I had the same problem with my Spanish. I wasted a lot of time translating words I never use etc. and it stopped me from enjoying the books. Reading on the Kindle app on my phone helped because I could just click words to translate them and it means I could read anywhere. What do you like reading Owais?

Keep reading. At first, its better to read out loud. And, to be easy to understand the context ask yourself questions while reading and after reading.
