TASK 1 IELTS:
The table below shows the changes in some household types in Canada from 1984 to 2020.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The table gives information about the changing composition of house members in Canada in a time period that goes from 1984 to 2020.
Overall, in the 36-year time period the size of householders has considerably shrunk since the number of houses inhabited by one single person, lone parent or couples with no children has shown an increasing trend. On the other hand, the percentage of families with dependent and non-dependent children has witnessed a significant decrease.
The percentage of one person households indeed had doubled in the 30-year timespan going from 1984 (where they were the 6%) to 2014 (12%) and then it remained constant until 2020. What is even more striking is the increase in lone parent houses, whose number trebled from 1984 to 2014 (from 4%to12%) and remained constant as well until 2020. A slighter increase in families with no children is reported in the table with the percentage that goes from 19% in 1984 to 25% in 2020.
Families with both dependent and non-dependent children have experienced a reverse phenomenon. However, while the decrease in households with couples and non-dependent children has been small in the timespan (from 10% to 9%), more significant has been the decrease in couples with dependent children that went from 52 to 36%.

number trebled from 1984 to 2014 (from 4%to 12%) and remained constant to the present time. A slight increase in families with no children is reported in the

Great interpretation and written description. What do you think is the impact on the property sector? What kind of construction will they plan for current/future demand?

of households shrank considerably, because the number of houses inhabited by

Well done, you are on the right lines. The chart finishes in 2020, which is all in the past so you can't use present perfect.
