It was overcast today. In math class, we worked on geometry, specifically calculating the area of different shapes. I memorized those formulas, easy. But it took me a while to grasp how to find the height of a triangle when it's not a straight line directly perpendicular from the top to the base. Sometimes the triangle is super slanted, and figuring out the height means you have to extend the base line to meet the perpendicular dropped from the vertex. Still, I prefer geometry over arithmetic. Working with a ruler and compass is way more fun than doing endless calculations on scratch paper.

But it took me a while to grasp how to find the height of a triangle when it's not a right-angle triangle (I suppose that was what you were looking for, but correct me if I'm wrong). Sometimes the triangle is super slanted, and figuring out the height means you have to extend the base line to meet the perpendicular dropped from the vertex. Still, I prefer geometry over arithmetic/calculus. Working with a ruler and compass is way more fun than doing endless calculations on scratch paper.

You are probably right!
