The most important lesson I learned in college was the necessity of planning for my life. In Japan, around one year before students graduate college, they start a job hunting almost all at once (“almost immediately” sounds better). Some of my friends spent their time studying the qualifications required by the companies where they wanted to work. Some of my friends tried to make connections and gain valuable experience desired by popular companies in Japan. However, I didn't spend my time preparing for job hunting, because the adults around me encouraged me to just have fun in my college days because people do not have much time to enjoy themselves after they start working. I just believed the stories without thinking deeply about them. As a result, I could not pass the entrance exams for the companies where I wanted to work. Looking back in time, I think I just interpreted the adults’ stories for my own convenience. Through experience, I learned that planning for my life and my future is very important.
