I'm confused by the meaning of ''look behind'' in this sentence? Does it mean ''look beyond sth'' or ''look back at sth''?
Farming is a way of life. But organic agriculture is more than that; it is also a philosophy of life. In order to appreciate the tenets of organic agriculture, you have to LOOK BEHIND its practical principles to this philosophy.

It means to look for the deeper meaning that is behind the appearance.

I think look beyond and look behind are very similar in meaning but a slightly more nuanced meaning would be, 'look at the principles which form the basis of the practice'.
