Some countries achieve international sports by building specialized facilities to train top athletes, instead of providing sports facilities that everyone can use. Do you think this is a positive or negative development? Discuss both views and give your opinion. It is believed that the new sport infrastructure can better help professional sportsmen to gain Olympic records than the ordinary amenities. In my point of view, the special facilities for elite athletes can motivate them more to train, as opposed to using the standard infrastructure, where the athletes can be an example for ordinary people. On the one hand, the pleasure of training in new sport facilities with new equipment because this environment could motivate and enhance the emotional state of athletes. As a result, they can be more happy and easily achieve their goals. For instance, according to Mag O’Neal, she had a desire to be involved in the sports community because the brand new swimming pool was built near her home. On the other hand, if the amenities meet the necessary standards, such as the world sport association, they can be used by athletes as well. In this case, the ordinary people have a chance to be closer to the sportsmen and it could lead to a great opportunity to involved others to try a particular sport as a professional. Consequently, society can have more athletes in the long run. The famous snowboarding star Mary Koval started her first training because the professional team had trained in the same place as school students. To sum up, the idea of the necessity to construct special facilities for top athletes can have a positive development because I think that the power of motivation is superior to the opportunity to be an example for others and it could be a key to success and it can help to achieve goals faster. Additionally, the ability to use the brand new facilities by elite athletes can create a unique atmosphere for new records.
