Hello
Can someone fix my mistakes and offer some more literary expressions when possible ? Thanks.
I'm short-sighted. I have -3,5 on both eyes so everything farther than an arm's lenght is quite blurry. Sometimes I go out without contact lenses or glasses to take a walk in the streets, preferably in the early morning before dawn, then I can live the short-sighted experience. It implies seeing everything blurred out, the more distant the less sharp things are. Public lights look like wide dots as in the background in movies when out of focus. But everything is out of focus. When you pass by people, you can only guess what they look like. No more attractive women to check out. No more depressed faces with their eyes caved in to feel sorry for. No more actual people, only hints of them, and it feels better. When you are close enough, one meter, two meters max, you can actually distinguish the features of a face, see emotions, such as indifference, suspicion, or even a regular blank face. But most people remain in the don't-know-if-smiling-or-sulking-or-whatnot zone. It feels relaxing not to see things. Stupid adds. Tired early workers at bus stops. And so on. It's like beeing in the world but with a comfortable veil between you and all the stuff that you don't actually need to see. The cons are : you can't read most things, if you need to go in a shop, you can't read the labels. You can step in dogshit. If the ground is uneven there is a risk of tripping and falling. You can't see danger coming if a stray dog or a psychotic raider pass by - these are rather rare where I live.
It sucks to be short-sighted, you have to rely on your glasses or lenses, and it's expensive too. But you can live the short-sighted experience whenever you want to. Non short-sighted people can't. I imagine someday there will be a VR app with glasses that make you see the world the way short-sighted people see it, and maybe it will even allow you to choose your disease, presbyopia, etc etc.

If the ground is uneven there is a risk of tripping and falling. You can't see
danger coming if a stray dog or a psychotic maniac passes by - these are rather
rare where I live. It sucks to be short-sighted, you have to rely on your

Contacts is more normal. Contact lenses is a bit much. And we NEVER say “lenses” except when ordering in a shop or talking in a clinical manner for both glasses and contacts. “Wait a minute, I need to put in my contacts” “Doctor, these lenses are too thick. I want thinner lenses for my glasses.”
