There are many nursing homes in Japan because the Japanese population is facing an aging crisis. Also, the majority of Japanese families are small.
Today I will write about why people send their parents to nursing homes.
Everybody gets old and dies. But many people are afraid of getting a disease. Japan has one of the highest life expectancies. Men average life expectancy is 85.3 years old and that number reaches 88.09 years old for women. If parents get along with each other and keep healthy, I think their son or daughter (children) will not / won't have to worry about them so much (first conditional structure: if + present simple, ... will + infinitive). However, once one of the parents gets sick, which can happen, their children should take care of them.
Nevertheless, they have to work and take care of their own children.
As seen above, sometimes sending their parents to a nursing home is
inevitable. There is also the possibility of suffering from dementia. Everybody is going to die sooner or later. Personally, I'm willing to go to a nursing home.
I don't want to rely on my son if my husband dies earlier than I.
A nursing home can help me make some friends, which makes me happy.
