Different strategies work for different people, but these are some of the strategies that many of my students use:
- Try to learn a few words each day. If you try to learn a long list of words each day, it can become too much to remember, and you may not be effectively committing them to memory. Figure out what amount of words is best for you.
- Use your new vocabulary right away. Use your newly learned words or phrases in sentences or conversations, and imagine situations in which you would use each word.
- Give your vocabulary words context, and try to learn related words at the same time. For example, if you learn several words related to food or cooking at the same time, the next time you speak about the subject you will more easily recall these new words because they are contextualized and related to each other.
I hope these tips are helpful!
