There is always a traffic jam on my way to work, but the traffic is usually smooth on the other side of the road. May I ask my passenger the questions below when I'm in the car? 1. How come there is a serious traffic jam in MY direction, but not the other? 2. How come there is a serious traffic jam in THIS direction, but not the other? 3. How come there is a serious traffic jam in THE direction, but not the other? With appreciation, Prudent. :)

numbers 1 and 2 work fine but number 3 doesn't work. "the" direction isn't specific here. It would be best to simply use a demonstrative (this that) or a possessive (my their)

Hey Prudent260 You can use the second one: How come there is a serious traffic jam in this direction, but not the other? Alternatively you can use these verbs to describe the traffic jam : a terrible.. an awful.. Hope this helps!
