For the Learners of a Language

I want to know what happens when a native language, gives the opportunity to an apprentice to practice speaking his/her language, for free. The apprentice attend to the first appointment, but after that they don't continue practicing the new language again,and they don't give any explanation. I would like to know if the learners give up in the first opportunity, if they feel fear, or if they are shy thinking about the reaction that the native could have when they make a mistake. I'm also and apprentice of English and I always assume all the challenges.
