I have a similar if not the same learn method. I often listen to music and write unknown words out or look them up right away. I also like to sing along to improve my pronounciation.

Also I like to watch movies, TV-series and some YouTube channels to improve my listening.
Sometimes I also like to read some texts out loud.

Also I am communicating with different people hear on italki, in video games and on the internet in general.

I think That  the best way to learn some new language as you want is the way you feel free and absorve very Smart, quickly, not boring as time is passing over and you measure your growing up of knowledge. For example, I love to learn listening musics and reproducing them all and watching a lot of movies.

i think the best way to learn any language is to listen and try to imitate from the 1st day on, and you should do that everyday and you will realize you improve very quickly

I'm currently trying to improve my Spanish, so I listen to a lot of podcasts and read the news in Spanish every day. I've also made a few Italki friends with whom I talk over Skype.

Being able to use the language <em>productively</em> is very important to me. I also like to write, so I've set myself the goal of writing at least one notebook entry in Spanish every week!
