As I am not going anywhere, partially because I hate drinking, smoking, parties and crowds, I am in a nice comfy Victorian style night gown.   I will however watch the ball drop at midnite in Times Square.

Here in Brazil we use to usually wear white clothes in the on New Year's Eve. Are there other countries where this is a tradition too?

I have heard of that.  Here in the US, at least in some parts from what I have seen, people like to wear new clothes, especially something beaded or with metallic material like silver or gold.  I see this a lot.  There is definitely a feeling of starting new and getting dressed up in new clothes.  Black is also a very common color since it is always considered dressy, formal and professional.
