Is this the right place for someone ( me), who is a TOTAL BEGINNER to learning Spanish?

Seriously total beginner here.  never had a class or a course.  I can barely count to 10, i can say hello and goodbye and a  very few miscellaneous words.  But thats it!   I am totally motivated and determined to learn this language.  I plan on moving to Ecuador, (Cotacachi) in 3 years (2019), as well as visiting there a few times each year before then.  So, I am committed to learning, but i am unsure of what methods i should be getting myself into first?  Any direction or advice would be soooo appreciated and welcomed.    Should I be signing up a private teacher/tutor?  a classroom course? a language partner here?

It's a bit overwhelming with so many options and not really one that says "Start here".

Thanks!

Douglas

I like this article:

https://www.italki.com/article/245/Setting-Sail-For-Fluency:-How-To-Create-Your-Own-Italian-Language-Immersion-Experience-At-Home

Yes the article is about italian, but just substitute Spanish for Italian and you are all set.  Basically the article is about building a completely immersive language experience for yourself - in as much as possible, for as much time as you have each day.  Seeing, speaking, writing, reading, listening -- assault your senses with Spanish!

IMHO Italki is a valuable tool as part of that learning experience.  Jump right in!

This is a great place to start learning spanish. You should try the different methods of learning and see which one works best for you.

When I started studying spanish I wasnt a complete beginner I had some understanding of the language, but I started off by studying spanish song lyrics and reading the english translation of them. Theres a website that shows english and spanish lyrics side by side. I also used a website called Fluencia. Its a spanish learning program that you have to pay a yearly fee but it was definatly worth it, I learned alot from that program and Im still using it

Hi,

I've just signed up too. I think the best way is to have a private tutor, I go once a week to learn Spanish and it has helped so much! I also use apps like Duolingo and such which is good for helping you memorise and practice each day.

Good luck!
