'Next Friday' is just what it sounds like; the Friday closest to the day we are in now.

'The next Friday' could be any Friday. Example: The next Friday that we meet we'll discuss your proposal. 

In other words, we meet on irregular Fridays. Maybe one Friday a month, maybe two. Maybe four Fridays a year.
