Booking a Class

I've booked two classes here in italki. The first one I just booked. No message was sent to the teacher at all. I have filled my profile and taken the the Oxford Online Placement Test. So, the teacher can have a good idea of my level. Nevertheless, I felt like I should have contacted her first. At least I booked with some days in advance. She could contact me if it were necessary.

The second teacher I contacted before hand. I felt better about it.

How do you book your classes with a teacher? How important is the first contact with them?

I agree. It's not too late to write to the teacher and provide an introduction, what you're looking for, and what your expectations are. Otherwise, you could end up with a lesson where the teacher gives you very basic exercises. On your lesson appointment page, you can still message the teacher (on the right hand side of the page), so it's not too late to do it even if you didn't provide a message when you initially booked.

Hello, I think you should contact them and write a little bit about yourself and ask some questions before, to the teacher about how the lessons are structured. Then, the teacher might explain the lessons and then you'll know more about lessons!

Because you were right, the first contact is very important.
