Why is it so hard to find a partner to practice English?

Hello all,

I ve been here for a while now. I am not looking for another language I just want to speak English with a female. But because I am not native no one accepts my offer. You are trying to practice it I am trying to practice it and I have no other request in exchange but no! You ll spend extra hours to teach another language to practice English but you have to devide the time. I can't see any logic in this. And please don't tell me the exchange is also about finding learning other cultures, it's not, obviously! Is it because I want to practice with a girl because I would feel more comfortable? Really if I had accepted guys I would have found tons.

Well I am really sick of this if you are not native or you don't have any money, finding someone here is just impossible and I am very frustrated..

Hm, are you sure it's only because you're "not a native"? What about the fact that you won't use skype? If you'd like to practice your English only in writing, then wouldn't the notebook serve the same purpose? If not, then how are you going to communicate? "I'm sure we'll find a way..." sounds rather vague, you know.

Oh, really?! I found a Filipino for language exchange. Though she is studying Chinese, most of the time we only chat in English.
For me, I don't care which countries my exchange partners are from or whether they are English native speakers.
Maybe many people just want to find a natives because they want to make sure what they say can be corrected by natives and make sure the answers are correct?
If you don't mind, I can practice English with you. I'm from Taiwan, definitely not an English natives. Learned English from school since I was a kid. However, my English is still far from perfect.
And may I ask why are you looking for only girls for exchange?? If you want to practice English, a boy can do that too.
For girls, safety is a big problem, I'm not saying chatting online with a male is unsafe, but girls' families will sometimes ask us not to chat with unknown males online.

Berze, Actually it was like that before, when I was still imagining where I corrected someone's turkish and practice english in exchange, but you would be surprised how very few people are willing to learn/practice turkish :)

Also people were sending me messages to learn Arabic because they think Turkey's language is arabic which is not for so many years, (I mean since the fall of Ottoman Empire and even then people were using Arabic only as an alphabet not a mother language. )

This was one of the reasons why I had given up exchanging Turkish language. Another reason was even if someone wanted to learn turkish(not that they did though) I was not sure that I could teach it to them especially from the beginners level properly since turkish language is a bit hard to teach grammatically.

But I did not realise that my profile felt empty,  Did you also mean the lack of friends I have there? Honestly, I don't like adding people without talking through it first and making sure that they want this too. But like I mentioned before, I can't get to this point. Also I delete them if I lost contact with them after a while.
