我可以理解 Alan 為什麼會誤會。你一開始似乎是在警告人跟台灣人學的中文是假中文，但是接下來卻又鼓勵人學方言。我不太懂你的邏輯。
來自哪裡的中文老師最適合你完全取決於你學中文的目的。如果你要搬到台灣或是你老婆是台灣人，那麼你當然應該找台灣人學中文。如果你要搬到中國東北，那東北人教的中文當然最適合你。
你的確沒有說台灣人不會說普通話，但你好像是說台灣人說的中文是假中文。這就像說美國人的英文是假英文一樣。我們有些用詞和語法的確和中國不一樣，但中國那麼大，哪裡沒有自己的特殊用語呢？我看中國電視節目完全聽得懂，在美國和中國留學生溝通也完全沒問題，中國人和台灣人的中文其實是沒差那麼多的。除了是繁體字以外，你現在看我寫的內容應該也完全沒問題吧？我也完全看得懂你寫的內容。如你所說，能說能交流就好，那麼用跟台灣人學的中文跟中國人溝通絕對沒問題。
附注一下，以上討論的是台灣的中文而非台語(閩南語)。我認為台灣人說的中文不算是「方言」。我想很少學台語的人會說他們是在學中文。教台語的人也不會說他是在教中文。
我單純就「台灣中文是假中文」這個議題討論，請不要自己把事情泛政治化。我完全沒興趣在這裡討論台灣是否為中國的一部分。<o:p></o:p>

這跟台灣是國家還是省有關聯嗎?再次不懂你的邏輯。
我想問的只是 「真」中文和「假」中文你是如何定義的？如果不打算就事論事，這議題就不需要討論下去了。
Have to agree with Alan. When I first read the above post, my take-home messages were:
(1) Learn from me because I speak proper Chinese, not like these make-believe dialect speakers
(2) Learn from me because I will teach you current Chinese, not textbook expressions
Leaving aside the "learn from ME" part which seems more appropriate in a teacher/learner profile, this raises some interesting questions. (A) When learning 普通话, should you learn only from speakers whose "home dialect" is close to standard speech? (B) Should foreigners bother to learn 方言？ （C） What about current expressions and actual everyday Chinese vs. textbook Chinese? As this is a discussion forum, I will give my 5c ;-).
(A) Standard Chinese only: I have my doubts about this one - I have met a lot of foreigners with poor Chinese like myself and few with a good command of the language. I cannot remember coming across a foreigner whose principal problem was a strong Taiwanese or Sichuan accent, though :-D. And the occasional regionalism probably disappears in the sea of other mistakes I make ;-).
(B) Learning fangyan: Absolutely, if you have any interest in it. Learning other varieties of Chinese opens a whole second dimension. It is a difficult task as teaching materials are hard to find, but it can be done (Cantonese is the only one with plenty of English materials, but Taiwanese Minnan has been up and coming and if fluent in Mandarin already there is more available on Shanghainese Wu as well). You may even find teachers on italki. Be prepared to answer the "why would you want to learn this" question, though ;-)
(C) Real vs. textbook: That is a good point. Though getting better, a lot of textbook Chinese is still a bit far away from what is actually said in everyday conversation. I see the same (or worse) in Japanese textbooks :-). That's where italki can shine.
