Are heroes needed during times of peace though? What would we want the hero to do in that case? Since there is no such thing as the ideal world I suppose heroes are always needed to fight for some cause. I think heroes are always dangerous when they intend to fight against against the powers that be.
Your quote on life being short is interesting because it applies to me at the moment. I'm reading a book that is hailed as a landmark novel, so I feel I should read it, but the content isn't the slightest bit interesting and I actually find it a bit offensive. Perhaps it's time to give it away!
@Tracey Salahovic
You are making me curious. Would it be impolite to ask you to reveal the title of said bore of book?
In my high school there was a quote from Bertolt Brecht on a wall of the assembly hall, taken from his play "Life of Galileo" (just discovered). Here it is, with a bit more of context:
Andrea: Unhappy is the land that breeds no hero.
Galileo: No, Andrea: Unhappy is the land that needs a hero.
