Ask me anything! Nothing inappropriate though, please :)
Hi 👋👋 My name is Jo (short for Joanne), I'm 31 years old, from the UK, and I currently live in Cambodia in South East Asia.
I got a CELTA certificate in 2014 and have been an English teacher since.
I've been teaching on italki for about a year.

Feel free to ask me anything! Your question can be about the UK, living abroad, being a teacher, or just a random question to practice your English 😊

I read that Vietnamese men are tall (maybe), dark, and handsome, especially the ones whose last name is Nguyen. Can you confirm?

After living in a Vietnamese city for so long, I wanted to be somewhere quieter, and also experience a change without travelling too far. I'd visited Cambodia on holiday and loved it.
The biggest challenge I guess is the heat! When teaching online I can appear pink and flustered 😂
It's difficult to choose the best thing about living here because the people, the nature and the culture are all wonderful. The laid back attitude of the locals is definitely a huge plus!

I visited them once, a decade ago. I had a cultural interest too because centuries ago the kingdom of Champa was ruled by Indian princes who had embraced the local culture. Those temple complex names are derived from Sanskrit, now changed to the local pronunciation. The tourist scene was a bit better then, the crowds weren't too large.

@Som They're still beautiful buildings. The fact that the stone has worn out over time and nature has taken over the structures is incredible. As far as tourism goes- when I visited a few years back, the moment at Angkor Wat at sunrise was ruined due to the vast number of tourists. However, tourism has dropped enormously due to corona virus; it would be a great time to visit, though it seems that the Cambodian government has tightened restrictions to enter the country (more so than other countries) and raised the price of tourist attractions.

Are Angkorwat (oñkārabhatta) and Angkorthom (oñkāradhām) still in good shape or ruined by too much tourism?
