If I could change the sign, I would probably write:
“I am blind, please help, anything would be appreciated.”
because people generally are more willing to help if someone sounds nicer and less forceful.

The sign: 'I can't see you, but I can feel your soul'.
I would like to add a quote. It is too long for being written on the sign. But it will be good for all of us. We should understand the world and its tragedies in a more human manner.
