English- The Most Defective Language in the World

English, the world's most recognized language.

English, the world's second most used language.

English, the world's most defective language.

Agree or disagree?

And why?

English, is not like Mathematics. There are rules and there are exceptions. A language keeps developing and absorbs words from other languages. For native speakers it may not be a problem, but it is certainly difficult for foreigners to learn English, because they always want to learn rules (but not exceptions). They should try to develop a feeling for the language.

I think Ya'll works just fine for a plural "you." It's a contraction meaning "you all" and everybody already understands the meaning. :D  I've used it all my life and had no problems being understood. :P

"And there not being a gender neutral pronoun, is very upsetting. There are many cases like "Every person shall hunt and kill "his"/"her" own food", where there not being a gender neutral pronoun"

Actually 'their' can be a singular neuter pronoun (in addition to being a plural pronon).

You can say "Every person shall hunt and kill their own food".

I've seen the lack of a formal 'you' as an advantage haha.

I agree that English's biggest flaw is it's inconsistent spelling, but that can easily be fixed. I think any language has its flaws.

English may have unusual spelling rules and lack a word for s/he but it is flexible and adaptable. It can tolerate Hollywood movie dialog along with words seldom seen outside of the founding documents of the USA.  It is used world wide as the premier language of technology. It can even serve as the base language for a Microsoft manual that contains valid but not always useful information.
