Youtube:The Dying Rooms- Documentary from 1995

I've just watched the whole video, obviously the ending is shocking even for me. I think I would never forget the last image of that baby girl. It's truly sad.

I am a girl who was born in Beijing,China in 1989. And I am the only child in my family due to one-child-policy. So I lived through this one-child-policy and luckly and apparently my parents didn't kill me. They love me more than anything. They are the world to me and I would do anything for them.

Now don't be confused and see me as a survivor or anything like that, cause it's not like that AT ALL.

According to the video which was flimed in 1994~1995, I should have lived through it cause I am a girl and I am the first child in my famliy and I should have been killed...well, nop. What I want to say is that from my own experiences, almost all the girls(same age as me) I've ever known in Beijing are the only child in their families as well. And they are not killed. They have a quite happy life actually. I am not saying that the video is a big lie or something like that, but it definately misleads the viewers what the 100% truth is, cause telling 20% or 30% truth is not the truth. But of course, this 20% or 30% is already sad enough, my heart is bleeding for the poor babies too. Then again, it's not like it's a mainstream to kill baby girls on the streets or anything like that.

About 5 years ago, I went to college in another city, which is much poorer than Beijing. But I've got a really great opportunity to get to know young people from all over China. So I met some people in the college and we got along and I was also interested into one-child-policy so we discussed about it,but only to find out that it's really just a policy which was carired in the city of Beijing. 2/3 of my college classmates have siblings. I was really jealous,u know, they have a big brother or little sister. Then I was doing a research on this topic. So the one-child-policy is not like the government kill the girls, nowadays it's more like u have to pay a fine, u know, you have to pay some money if you have a second child. But again, they don't kill the babies. Now we have a new policy in China, it's that if you and your wife/husband are both the only child, then u can have 2 children together.

I couldn't help thinking by reading some comments here, people are saying that China is poor. Let me tell you sisters and brothers, we are not that poor as you think. It's 2014 for God's sake. Just take a vacation to China and see by yourself. lol

Ok, back to the topic of 'killing'. During 1980~1998, we weren't having too much money in every family. There were cases of people die of hunger. So you can imagine even the children who had family were suffering hunger, let alone orphans who had dieses. Again, I feel really sorry for them.

Why boys > girls? It dates back from ancient time (Sorry, I don't know which year, didn't do my homework well...). It's part of our culture in ancient time. It's just like in ancient Egypt, women were superior.
Well, as for me, when people were rushing having baby boys in China, I become naturally a rare kind lol Cause by the end of 2020, there will be servel millions of bachelor chinese men in China. See my point? Who is laughing now XD

Ok, there's one thing which bothers me a lot after I read the comments. Some people just simply curse China and Chinese people. I have nothing to say to you, but 'I wish you could have a better education'.

P.S. : As a matter of fact, China has its issues with many things which go against western countries. It doesn't mean the China is evil. When it comes to politics, there's not right or wrong, the thing is that whether you are strong. I would not point any countries which kill people here. But you do know they exist.

Thank you for the topic  Jasmine.   It is good to see a

Chinese student of English write something so extensive.

At the end, I think your   conclusions require better elaboration.

One  needs to do better than to simply     publish a  brief conclusion which dismisses all objection.

Your concluding sentence would actually be the heart of your argument,  because in your concluding sentences you are introducing entirely new arguments and information. For example, you introduce the idea of nations  "killing people"; but you write no more to inform others as to what this means as a reality.

To  refer to a  Moral Wrong,  a moral standard is needed,  unless of course, you are referring to a legal wrong.

   Your argument is therefore,  incomplete.
