So yeah... Pretty straight forward. What <em>exactly</em> is your motivation in attempting to learn a new langauge?
A while ago I remember reading something that said when learning another langauge, it is important to remember the reason you are learning it, at it spurs you on. I thought it was a true statement.. But of late I find I've lost much motivation to learn, so its like I've become <em>stagnant</em> in my learning process :|
Just curious as to what motivates others... So yeah, <em>inspire</em> me! XD
I want to work in the humanitarian sector. In my eyes the places that have the most turmoil are africa and the middle east so that is where i want to live and work but for me to make a difference i need to be able to communicate and understand the culture.
I need to learn a few languages to work in the humanitarian sector like Demetri and I don't want to appear like an imposing outsider who knows nothing of others culture. one of my favourite books is Half of a Yellow Sun and in it a British man learns Igbo, a langauge of Nigeria and the locals seem a lot more welcoming. I know it's just a book but still. Plus I love the challenge of learning a language

of course that isn't the main reason, it's more of a handy bonus.
I study English with the hope that I can read and write like the English one day.In other words,the great English litereture motivate me to master English language .

Hi Massi. What happened? Do you even remember why you wanted to learn another language?
Here's mine: I have always wanted to learn Hebrew. My grandma is a Holocaust survivor, she lost her whole family in concentration camps. After the war, she wandered from here to there until she found a place she liked, she then had her family, etc. I don't remember much about her as a child. And I don't get to see her often. I can't "get" to her. I want to know more about her, I want to be able to tell her I admire her and so much more in her native tongue, Hebrew.
I have MS, and before I die, I want to go to Israel. I want to talk to the people, pray with them, know about their own wishes and dreams. People are fascinating and everyone has something to say that you can use as life advice.
Go for it! Make the world your backyard! Make new friends, new experiences. No pares de correr!
