I think they mean that it's a haven for tax evadors. 

Well, some quality of Switzerland is reflected in that country. To me, I think of neutrality and banking when I think of Switzerland.  Perhaps that's the analogy the writer wanted to convey.

I recently wrote on another disucssion, "Croatia is the Bali of central Europe."  By that, I meant that whereas Australians would go to Bali for a cheap and close holiday destination, central Europeans would choose the Croatian coast.

Switzerland means peace and paradise on Earth.  :)   The Swiss are among the most highly educated, healthiest and wealthiest in the world.  The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite statistic of life expectancy, education, and income indices used to measure the level of human development for each nation. It was created by the Pakistani economist Mahbub ul Haq and the Indian economist Amartya Sen in 1990 and was published by the United Nations Development Program.  According to the HDI which is used to measure a nation's human development, Switzerland is the third most highly developed nation in the world.  A lot of Swiss people are intelligent scientists, Switzerland has the third highest number of Nobel Prize winners in relation to its population size.  :)

The Swiss prove that a well-armed society is a polite society:  Switzerland has a high gun ownership rate without any gun violence.  The Swiss respect their fellow human beings.  They have eluded war and genocide for over 200 years.  Violent crime is virtually non-existent in Switzerland.  :)

I think the Swiss make high-quality clocks, watches and chocolates.  :)

Switzerland has beautiful people, yodelers, lakes, mountains and ski slopes.  :)

I've also heard Singapore refered to as the "Switzerland of Asia"or, the "Switzerland of South East Asia".

There are obvious similarities between these two countries.  Singapore is very small and rich (especially relative to other countries Asia) and one of the few first-world countries in the region.  It's also a major global hub of banking and finance.
