You can understand many English while studying the Latin and Greek roots of English words. e.g, "xyl" is Greek root which means "wood" so the words having "xyl" in start or in middle or at any position will give the meaning of "some thing made of wood", i.e, Xylem (plant made of wood), Xylophone (instrument made of wood), etc etc.

Read any English articles everyday. It could be anything related to your interest. I did the same when I learned English and now I'm using the same method for learning Spanish and it works amazing! That way, you will learn vocabularies in context not just remember the words and don't know its usage. Read whenever you have time and whenever you feel like it but you need to read everyday.

Learn them in context :) read a lot of novels.
