I have experienced relaxed New Year Eve as well as some party with my friends. Last two years I'm accustomed to stay in which I like more after all. Especially I hate the next day after some party, because I wake up late and I'm lazy almost all day :D

 In my case, I will do exactly as you.   I never join  in   with the publish declarations about

"resolutions"  and   other such reflections.

   New Years is like Christmas for me, or any other "holiday" for that matter.

They quiet days at home, filled with peace, rest, and relaxation.

 I have my usual meetings with students,  my usual postings of commentary on book reviews on Amazon.   I work on my hobbies and other studies.  The vast majority of my studies involve preparing  study materials for students.

 I always enjoy my holidays that way.

What do you mean by: "Today is common for me"? That is surely not the right adjective here.
