Giauco and Fran are correct.

It seems that what confused you was the phrase "take us".  That is a commonly used to describe death.  For instance, "My mother was taken from us two years ago."  

Therefore, ifyou wanted to say that we never know where we'll die, a common way to say it would be "We never know where death will take us."  And, since most people are more concerned about the "when" rather than the "where", you could say "We never know when death will take us."

No on knows their destiny.
