I agree with Ryoko-san's suggestions and I'd like to add my comment. 私の日本語はよくないです sounds よくないです^^; Because よくないです is too straight saying. The easy correction is adding あまり or まだ to your original sentence, such as 私の日本語はあまりよくないです or 私の日本語はまだよくないです. I also don't like the phrase 私の日本語はへたです. If your Japanese is really poor, it's not so bad, but your Japanese is good!! You just need more practices now. In this case, へた sounds odd. へた is a rude word, so you should not use it to others and even to yourself. 日本のホストファミリーがいます sounds slightly strange. The correct saying is 日本にホストファミリーがいます（but どんな？）. or 日本人のホストファミリーがいます(but どこに？). To clear their meaning, 日本に日本人のホストファミリーがいます is the best, but it's too long. So 日本にホストファミリーがいます is simple and good, I think. If they are not Japanese, you should say like 日本にアメリカ人のホストファミリーがいます.
