Let classics be classics As Francis Bacon had said “reading makes a full man!” I truly agree with it especially when reading a classics created by wise men. The classics are the very essential treasure of the whole human beings withstanding the strict test of time and the changeable outlook of value of the public, and they are never out of time because of their creative ideas. Therefore, we should not give up classics but we need to think correctly about them. As is known to us all, for example, the Bible is the most influential classics for the whole human society. It can be a guide of our life and influence how we think about things, which is the value of classics. Moreover, the purpose why we read classics is not only to gather the wisdom from the past people but also to utilize their achievement to create our own classics. Additionally, classics can widen our overlook of the world. Once Newton followed: “If I have seen farther than other men, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.” Which indicates that classics can be the step stone for us to advance the society. Above all, classics contain some important ideas in common with nearly all periods of society, which we can also see in the Bible On the contrary, we cannot follow all the thoughts in classics. There are always changes in our contemporary society, yet the classics are created in the past ages when there might be plenty of standpoints on the world and men which are not absolutely right viewed by the modern society. For example, the Newton mechanics proved to be wrong in the circumstance where the subject is at high speed but the special relativity theory created later by Einstein satisfies the high-speed condition. In addition, nothing can be suited for the all situation. We should never regard classics as the only truth without any deeper thinking about whether they can bring us any original or valuable thoughts. Of course, every coin has two, we should have a correct attitude towards both sides of classics. To sum up, exploring the unknown must be important for us to generate new understanding of man and nature which is just the perpetual mission of mankind. Whereas we need make full use of the available treasure to strengthen the evolution of mankind as well. Many things can get well used to benefit the evolution of the society if enough importance are attached to them, and the classics are surely in the ranks!
