Sherlock Holmes

I heard that yesterday about Sherlock Homes's birthday. I mean that was the first story about him appeared on December 1, 1887.
The author is Arthur Conan Doyle, and the title of the novel is "A Study in Scarlet". Although the story is about 150 pages, it only took Dole three weeks to write. I have not (haven't) read it yet, so I want to choose it when I will buy next new novel.
