I got a new lunch box, so I cooked a rolled omelet.

By mistake, I added too much sugar and the omelet became too sweet.

NOTES:

1. "cooked" is acceptable, "made" (to make) can be used too.

2. some a were missing

3. This can be used at the beginning or ending, you can also use 'because I added too [...]', see ***

4. Combine the sentences. (Think like in Japanese: [...] から、[...]。)

5. 'became' is acceptable, using 'was' is better.

*** Alternative sentence: Because I added too much sugar, the omelet became too sweet.

In most cases, you have to add an article before a countable noun. Remember to do that and you will get used to it. Think about is this specifying something or is this generalizing something. If it is specifying, for example, you have mentioned the item before, or it is the only ones around, you have to use"the": the sun, the Japanese I've seen Otherwise, you will use "a"- for one item, "these"- for several items around you, "those"- for several items far away from you, "this"- for one items around you, "that"- for one items far away from you. But don't get confused. Mostly you will end up using "the" or "a". It is useful and important to remember the article usage
