In 2012 St.Petersburg visited 3 millions foreigners tourists (in general it is tourists from Finland, Germany, USA, Sweden and France) and 2,7 million Russian tourists. There is 640 hotels, mini hotels and guesthouses.
A government of St.Petersburg support and develop touristic business. They spent a lot of money for outdoor advertisings in European capitals, for participated in international exhibitions.
Because of situation on Ukraine in 2014 many tourists, especially from the USA and Poland, canceled trip to St.Petersburg for reasons of policy.
I recommend to you visit my city in this summer, because it's very beatiful city and its cheap now (in Russia had a devaluation).
