Situational Dialogue

A is learning English, today she saw a foreigner (B) wait for an interview. So she brought herself up to have a little talk with the interviewee.
A: Hello, nice to meet you.
B: Hello, nice to meet you too.
A: First to say, I am working in this company but I am not the interviewer you are waiting for. I am here to talk to you because I bet on my colleague if I dare to have a word with you, my colleague would treat me a big meal. I just wanted to have a quick word with you as my friend dared me to talk to a complete stranger. If I did, then I would get a meal off him.
B: Oh, I see.
A: Another purpose reason why I am talking to you is to practice my English. You know, talking to native is a quick way to improve. right?
B: Yeah.
A: So may I have your name?
B: xxx
A: OK. xxx, what position do you want to apply?
B: Software test engineer.
A: All right, Good luck to you for the interview. You can make it. Nice to talk It's been nice talking to you.

If you really had such a situation, this would be a rather strange conversation. By saying you are only talking to the person because they are a native speaker, it implies that you have no interest in the person themself and are only talking to them for your own benefit. The person you are speaking to may feel offended.

Instead, have a conversation that takes some interest in the person. You can ask questions such as: "Hi, how are you?", "Have you come far?", "I noticed you look new around here. Can I help you with anything?", "Would you like a cup of water or tea whilst you are waiting?", "Have you been in China for many years?", "How do you like working in Beijing/Shenyang/Shanghai/Qingdao?". By asking such questions, you will give the impression of being helpful, polite and not making the other person feel uncomfortable. The conversation will flow much more naturally.
