Learning english I now have been learning English for many years. It must be 5 or 6 years. I started to learn when I was 14. I'm from France, and I must admit the French education system isn't the best one to learn english. Courses are boring and teachers speak french all the time. This is why, 2 years ago, I decided to move to Canada for studies purpose. I am now having classes with good teachers, from united states mainly. I'm now able to write english correctly (I guess), but I still need to practice my speaking skills. I've got the opportunity to go to Sweden next semester, so I will have to practice. This will be an amazing exchange and I hope I'll come back from Sweden with a fluent english more or less. PS: Thanks to the ones that will correct me, and feel free to contact me if you'd like to practice your french !

American English Corrections

Learning English

I now have been learning English for many years now. Place now at the end like this. If you place it between the subject and "have been", it add sooooooooo much emphasis to the sentence. In my opinion, placing now at the end in this sentence sounds more natural and flows better too. When I read "I now have been", my brain tends to insert a slight pause after "now" (henceh the emphasis). It must be 5 or 6 years. I started learning "Started to learn" is technically grammatically correct, however  "started + ing form" sounds such much more natural in American English. :) when I was 14. I'm from France, and I must admit the French education system isn't the best one for learning English. Courses You can also say "classes" here. In my opinion, Americans, especially younger ones, use the word "class" more frequently. are boring and teachers speak French All language names need to begin witha capital since they are proper nouns. :P all the time.

This is why, 2 years ago, I decided to move to Canada for the purpose of studying. I would say "...I decided to move to Canada to study" instead. The phrase "for the purpose of studying" is perfect English, however it sounds snooty and like how old people might speak in my opinion. I cannot picture any of my friends wording it this way. ;)  I am now having classes with good teachers, from the United States mainly. Again, proper nouns like "United States" need to be capitalized. :) Also, you can either place "now" immediately after "teachers" or leave it where you have it. In this sentence, it sounds natural between "am" and "having" since you are contrasting. :)

I'm now able to write English correctly (I guess), but I still need to practice my speaking skills. You get points for not writing "oral (skills)". Well done. Hehehe. :P  I've got the opportunity to go to Sweden next semester, so I will have to practice. This will be an amazing experience I think you meant "experience" instead unless you mean "exchange" as in foreign exchange student programs. and I hope I'll come back from Sweden with  a   fluent English more or less. Or... "I hope I'll come back from Sweden speaking fluent English, more or less." or "I hope I'll come back from Sweden speaking English more fluently.
