GERUNDS / INFINITIEVES In English, if you want to follow a verb with another action, you must use a gerund or infinitive.

- Gerunds ING

- Infinitive TO

EXAMPLE: We resumed talking. (gerund – verb + ing) I want to see a movie. (infinitive – to + base verb)

There are some verbs which can only be followed by one or the other, and these verbs must be memorized.

1)The common verbs that we use with GERUND:

advise allow appreciate avoid enjoy explain miss feel like forgive keep recommend suggest undestand

2)The common verbs that we use with INFINITIVE:

agree ask can/can't wait come decide deserve expect get guarantee hope learn mean plan prepare pretend promise say seem struggle swear wait want would like

3)Verbs followed by a gerund or infinitive with little to no change in meaning:

1) i like playing piano / i like to play piano 2) it started to snow / it started snowing 3) like love hate prefer start

if you know some common verbs else or i wrote something wrong, please write right here!
