Portuguese has started to interfere with my English. I mix them up so often. I got into the habit of switching between English and Portuguese and it makes my head hurts. There are some areas in my Portuguese that are dramatically weak such as my speaking. I use ChatGPT and text online friends everyday in Portuguese so I am always writing in Portuguese. I even lost my ability to naturally produce nasal sounds. Thats how much I do not speak or practice speaking portuguese. In my city we have a lot of brazilian spaces such as barbershops, restaurants, churrasco (not sure if I spelled that right). And the Brazilians are always happy to speak but it is a journey traveling to those spaces. I will get better with speaking soon. The bigger concern is retraining my mouth to produce nasal sounds, the NH, LH, open and closed sounds.
