I took a phonetics course when I studied French. In Quebec, Canada, they don't even teach phonetics. Why....because everyone has a different French accent (France, Quebec, Africa). To teach one accent implies that the others are wrong. Having an accent is O.K. What is important is that the accent cannot interfer with pronunciation. Which American accent do you want? (from New York, from the south, from California, from Boston, from the midwest, from Louisiana ?) I would love to talk with you. I am a retired teacher and a serious linguist. Let's try a few skype calls to see if there are any serious problems with your accent.
